Biomedical Sciences Thesis – Rutgers University

Research Associate, Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital
Oct 2016 – Jun 2018 | New Brunswick, NJ

As part of my Master’s in Biomedical Sciences at Rutgers University, I worked in the Emergency Department at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital under the mentorship of Dr. Jonathan McCoy. My graduate thesis project — titled SAVEDT (Sphenopalatine Ganglion Block: A Valued ED Treatment) — focused on combating the opioid epidemic by researching alternative treatments for headache management in emergency room patients.

The project aimed to reduce opioid prescriptions by evaluating the effectiveness of sphenopalatine ganglion blocks as a non-opioid pain intervention. I contributed to patient tracking, clinical observations, data collection, and research analysis, while also building strong interpersonal, time management, and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced clinical environment.
